Hamann Rolls Royce Phantom Images Surface

Posted by admin

hamann-rolls-royce-phantom-images-surface-3

Hamann does not discriminate. That is to say, the German tuner will work on any brand deemed suitable to its vision. Recent various tuning packages include the BMW X6 and 7-Series, McLaren SLR, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and most recently one for the Bentley GT Speed.

Rolls Royce is not immune to these visions of Hamann and that is why the two cars seen here came into existence. Both the Phantom and the two-door Drophead got special Hamman treatment. Not much detail was tossed our way but we can disclose that the wheels have gone from the standard 21-inch cast aluminium to 23-inches.

Maximum power has also been increased from a mere 460hp (338kW) to 535hp (394kW). Peak torque received a boost too, from 720Nm to 835Nm. The top speed then improves to 300km/h.

A highlighted interior element is the Hamann sports steering wheel which was made specifically for the Phantom.

FAB-Design SLR *Desire* Official Details and Photos

Posted by admin

fab-design-slr-desire-1

The SLR “Desire” is a restyling of the Mercedes McLaren SLR by Swiss tuner FAB-Design. It’s not often that a car gets a sub-name like a perfume. But if they do, they had better live up to the expectations that such pretense creates.

How about 750 hp and 1,080 Nm of torque, with performance values of 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 310 km/h (196 mph)? Does that satisfy your desire? Okay, lets also have a look at the car.

The standard McLaren SLR (with 626 hp and 780 Nm of torque) has been restyled, resculpted here by the use of ultra-light carbon fiber materials which FAB-Design claims is as advanced as anything in use in Formula One or the aerospace industry today.

There are all-new front and rear fenders, front apron, side skirts, a reshaped bonnet, a rear diffuser and wing. The diffuser helps contain the lift force while the wing brings considerable downforce onto the rear axle to maintain aerodynamic flow and stability. A high-performance exhaust system is also part of the package, with the three pipes coming out of each side just behind the front wheels instead of the standard two.

To keep this reinvented beast rolling along is a new sport suspension and FAB-Design’s own 20-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin’s performance 265/30 ZR 20 (front) and 325/25 ZR 20 (rear) tires.

On the inside is a complete FAB-Design leather finish in black and red with croco-style leather seats.

Desire is a loaded word. There’s something malevolent, devilish about it. Definitely fits the car.

Mercedes McLaren SLR Restyled by FAB Design

Posted by admin

mercedes-mclaren-slr-by-fab-design

Is it a bird? A plane? Did Mercedes build the latest Batmobile? None of the above. This exercise in extreme modification or questionable taste, depending on your opinion, is the Mercedes McLaren SLR modified by FAB Design of Switzerland and scheduled to appear at the Geneva show March 5-15.

Spotted at FAB Design’s headquarters, the radical SLR sports an extensive body kit that exaggerates the SLR’s already distinctive features. Monstrous sill extensions and a reworked front bumper make it look even lower and wider than it already is, and the Mercedes’ subtle Formula One influence is made much less so, especially from the front. Monstrous wheels, additional cooling ducts and an unusual tall spoiler that online wags have dubbed a “TV antenna” and a “cheese table” complete the look.

There’s no word as to if there are any modifications beyond the body kit, but in keeping with FAB Design’s M.O., the car has already offended the sensibilities of many online enthusiasts. Even before its introduction, the McLaren SLR has inspired horror and disgust among car people, much like the FAB Design Maybach and Mercedes CL body kits have. There’s a chance that it will look better when seen on the show floor…but that doesn’t seem likely.

Autoblog.nl has called for its readers to pose with the car at the Geneva show, and to post their opinions on the car in its comments. We’ve no doubt that you’ll do the same.

McLaren Tuned Dodge Viper Diamondback for Sale

Posted by admin

Although the DaimlerChrysler merger was not the financial success story analysts expected, one cool thing did come out of it: Dodge’s ability to join forces with McLaren on a one-off concept called the 2006 ASC Diamondback Viper. It debuted two years ago at the auto show in Detroit, cost $750,000 to develop, and had a 615 horsepower McLaren engine under the hood.

ASC stands for American Specialty Cars, a company that had previously developed finely tuned and engineered body parts for many of the world’s manufacturers, including Chrysler and McLaren. They built a customized hood for this Viper concept with a “trupeted air intake system with individual port throttles,” and carbon fiber body panels.

The lighter weight and more powerful engine means a faster 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, 0.4 seconds quicker than the 2006 Dodge Viper SRT-10 coupe. Suspension has been lowered by 1.25 inches, and three-piece forged aluminum 19-inch wheels are included. The odometer shows just 55 original miles.

If you happen to have $295,000 lying around you can purchase the concept for $455,000 less than what it cost to build. The 2006 ASC Diamondback Viper could be a great investment for anyone looking to have a truly one-of-a-kind supercar.

Hamann Volcano Based on Mercedes Mclaren SLR Officially Detailed

Posted by admin

How much torque does a volcanic eruption have? Well, it does indeed take a lot of steam to melt rocks and push the lava straight up through the earth’s crust and Hamann-Motorsport does a good job of rivaling that with their own Volcano.

The Hamann Volcano is a supersized version of what is already one of the world’s most renowned supercars – the Mercedes McClaren SLR. Hamann technicians were able to boost the Mercedes Benz 5.4 liter, 626 hp, 780 Nm V8 and take its performance to 700 hp and 830 Nm of torque at 3,300 rpms; giving the Hamann a 0-100 km/h time of only 3.6 seconds.

But performance is also improved by aerodynamics, with the addition of new lift-reducing wing extensions in both the front and the rear as well as new side skirt attachments and sheathings.

Interiors also get yet another luxurious do-over. It includes aluminium pedals, foot-rests, door sills, head-rests and floomats with the Hamann logo and the use of the top-quality material Alcantara for custom center console and dashboard parts.

No details on pricing were released.

Mercedes SLR McLaren Hamann Volcano (Video)

Posted by admin

Shot by spys earlier this month wearing only its somewhat less than inconspicuous Hamann bodykit, the firm’s Mercedes-McLaren SLR-based new Volcano model has now been part-unveiled in video form. The official presentation stylishly introduces the Volcano in all its outlandish glory – from studio to the road. And although unaccompanied by an official press release, the video does give the first peek inside its plush, albeit largely unchanged, cabin.

The first Mercedes vehicle to join the impressive Hamann ranks, the SLR-based Volcano is not the first supercar to be suped by the firm. The Volcano slots into the line-up alongside modified Ferrari and Lamborghini models, complementing a range of tuned vehicles from firms such as Aston Martin, BMW and Bentley to name just a few.

The principle visually-differentiating modifications on the Volcano are its two-tone paint scheme and its huge rear wing, while of substantial impact are its new rear diffuser, black and white 3-piece alloy wheels, front skirt, triple-pipe exhaust and darkened rear lamps. Details are scarce but expect technical upgrades akin to the rest of Hamann’s range. Its soundtrack can be heard in the video.

Mercedes SLR Mclaren 740hp by Renntech

Posted by admin

When we first heard of the Mercedes SLR Mclaren 722, we all licked our lips at the prospect of a 722 horsepower engine, but when the final figure of 650hp was released it left a sour taste in our mouth. Renntech soon put that sweet taste back with their own tuning package which boosted the supercar’s power up to where it should be at 722 horses, and now by popular demand the tuning house has pumped yet more ponies out of the 5.4-liter supercharged engine bringing total power up to 740hp

For the upgraded tuning package Renntech have re-worked the ECU software and added a less restrictive motorsports-style exhaust system to get the extra ponies to the new Renntech Signature 10-spoke, 3 piece performance wheels.

For an extra bit of added spice the tuner has also provided a nice little video in which you can hear the engine.
