Lorinser E-Class Coupe Styling Kit Revealed

Posted by admin

German Mercedes tuners Lorinser have released details and a new set of images for the E-Class coupe.  The aero kit is a bit different than what the company had indicated back in April with initial design sketches.

Amongst the changes are a new grille with one slit, instead of two, and a monocolor lower front bumper.  Side sills have been changed, along with rounder side mirrors.  An unexpected spoiler now hangs over the rear window.  At the same time, a rear bumper has a section in it that is now squared, not rounded, incorporating quad tailpipes and the rear diffuser.

Also included in the package is a set of LED daytime runners, and 20-inch one-piece alloy wheels.  New suspension springs lower the car by 30-mm, but they are adjustable.  Inside, aluminum pedals and leather-lined floor mats can be found.

Lorinser is also working on re-tuning the engine, but the performance upgrade is not yet available.  However, if the 330 km/h (205 mph) speedo is any indicator, the car could be capable of great things.

The Lorinser Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe aero kit will be available soon.

Lorinser puts up tuned 450 SEL 6.9 W116 for sale

Posted by admin

lorinser mercedes 450 SEL 6.9 W116 (3)

Mercedes-Benz launched the 450 SEL 6.9 in the 1975. The super sedan was based on the W116 model series and as the range-topper it embodied fame, luxury, as well as power. Only for this model did Mercedes borrow the 6.9-litre V8 engine from the State 600 limousine which at the time was like the Rolls-Royce of Germany. Maximum torque was rated at 550Nm. That is quite massive even by today’s standards. When new its peak power was 286hp (210kW).

Lorinser is now bringing the 450 SEL 6.9 into the attention of a new generation by reminding us of the kind of work the tuner completed on it back then. Wide square plastic aprons up front were installed in the place of the old slim chrome bumpers. It was the same for the rear which then featured more a copious shape with Lorinser double exhaust pipes.

The tuner says that although the car rides on a hydro-pneumatic suspension system and keeps the ride soothing, it still handles well for its age. Cornering is apparently quite safe and road grip is firm. The steering wheel is nimble as it gives the driver incentive to keep pushing.

Performance figures suggest this golden oldie can still hang out with some of the best from today. It goes from 0 – 100km/h in 7.4 seconds using its 205/55 VR 16 wheels and the 3-speed automatic gearbox. BBS furnished the multi-spoke wheels because at that point Lorinser did not produce its own. The engineers reckon wider tyres would probably help bring the sprint time down. Top speed is 225km/h.

There is no price provided but interested parties can contact Lorinser directly should they wish to acquire this unit.

Lorinser LV8 with 500hp to enter Tuner Grand Prix

Posted by admin

Lorinser LV8 with 500hp

Lorinser is not a tuner that goes out of its way to create cars that scare other motorists off the freeway. Subtle but effective is how they do it over at Lorinser. Occasionally though, they present something like this which is called the Lorinser LV8. It’s based on the Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG and instead of pushing out 332kW (451hp) it delivers 368kW (500hp). Maximum torque is also increased to 630Nm. Subsequently the 0 – 100km/h dash can be achieved in 4.3 seconds while top speed goes up to 320km/h.

The LV8 comes fitted with 255/35 18 Continental tyres and a special Lorinser exhaust unit. The aerodynamic kit includes spoiler bumpers and side sills. Lorinser General Manager Marcus Lorinser says the car meets all the registration requirements put on road vehicles.

Look out for the LV8 at the Tuner Grand Prix on the Hockenheimring between the 26th and 27th of June.

Lorinser Tackles Lexus LS460

Posted by admin

Lorinser Tackles Lexus LS460 (2)

Tuners at the German firm Lorinser are best known for their work on the Mercedes-Benz lineup.  The company has pretty much hit every modern Mercedes, from A to SLK, including the Viano.  Two years ago, they ventured a little further out, giving a nice bit of work to the Smart Cars.

Now the company has set their sites on their first ever Asian adaptation.  Meet the Lorinser Lexus LS 460, with a new aerokit meant to give the big, five-meter long car “elegant bodywark that exudes confidence.”

Engineers first subtly attacked the front fascia with a new spoiler that incorporates new, round foglights.  The front bumper also appears to be a bit more squared off, giving the car a more stately appearance.  Side sill changes are substantial, but not aggressive, and warn onlookers that the car has some power under its hood.

Modifications at the back are a bit more noticeable, although Lorinser kept the 460’s rear light cluster intact.  A rear wing has been added on to the boot, and a new apron has been installed.  These show more sporty characteristics, as the apron incorporates an air inlet, race-inspired grill, and quad-tipped dual exhaust.  The package is rounded off with custom made light-alloys.

Despite making all of these changes, the Lorinser Lexus LS 460 has a relatively unchanged 0-100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds.  Power comes from a 4.6-liter V8 engine that produces 381 horsepower.  Although not yet on their website, the Lorinser LS 460 should be available from the company in no time.

Lorinser New E-Class Sedan and Coupe Images Leaked

Posted by admin

lorinser-new-e-class-sedan-and-coupe-images-leaked-1

Lorinser has tossed out some scanty details of its upcoming tuning kit for the 2010 Mercedes E-Class, and we’ve got the first leaked photos of the modified W212 Mercedes.

As seen in the previous sketches that have been released, a grille reminiscent of that worn by the C-Class Sport is used, transforming the front end of the new E-Class. The front spoiler is also more aggressive and features larger air intakes. Side skirting emphasizes the fender flares, and a set of Lorinser RS 9 light-alloy wheels fills the wheel wells. At the rear, a roof spoiler and rear bumper diffuser with quad exhaust outlets distinguish the muscular sedan’s tail.

The top-rated Lorinser E 500 will boast a healthy performance boost as well, thanks to new cams, an upgraded exhaust and revised engine control. Horsepower is up to 435, from the stock 388, with torque jumping from 530 Nm to 570. Lorinser claims a 280 km/h top speed. The tuner also plans upgraded versions of the diesel-powered E Class models. To help contain the additional power, the suspension has been lowered.

We’ve also got some sketches of the upcoming E Class Coupe, as repackaged by Lorinser. The performance modifications are reportedly similar to those of the sedan, but the coupe is more aggressively styled, with the drawings appearing to show a full widebody kit.

The Lorinser W212 E-Class modification program is expected to go on sale at the end of April.

Project Kahn and Lorinser unite in tuning partnership

Posted by admin

What do you get when a German tuner hooks up with a British designer? Sounds risky, doesn’t it?

What you get first is a Kahn set of wheels. Specifically, Kahn RSL 9 X 21 matte black in the front and 10.5 X 21 at the rear. Project Kahn also provides some interior design on this Mercedes S Class, with a full bespoke leather package and other unspecified cabin detailing.

Lorinser provides the rest of the restyling through added body paneling, which from the photos we can see are side air vents and subtle new skirting all around that give the design a softer, more grounded look.

“This project is without a doubt the perfect blend of British and German styling and it will certainly ensure a great deal of customer satisfaction,” says Marcus Lorinser, head of German tuner Lorinser, who has partnered with Project Kahn on this Mercedes S Class.

Well, you can view the results right here and judge for yourself.

Lorinser Details Engine Upgrade for Mercedes C350 Sedan

Posted by admin

As with the Lorinser C-Class Estate, tuner Lorinser has released its engine upgrade for the Mercedes-Benz C350 sedan. From the standard vehicle’s 200kW/ 272 hp and 350Nm, Lorinser has worked on ECU and upgraded the cam to make more power.

As a result we now get 224kW/ 305 hp from the engine bay, plus more pull from the torque upgrade worth 30Nm, to 380Nm. Kit features integrated muffler pipes that curve to match the car’s rear bumper, which houses a sporty horizontal honeycomb grille. The Lorinser C350 sedan is carried by 19-inch Lorinser RS8 wheels with a turbine design. Probably the best part, alongside the wheels, is the Winnenden honeycomb sport grille that runs across the car’s width, obstructed only by the front bumper’s downward sloping shape. It completes the car’s purposeful sporty look.
