Nissan GT-R (R35) by TommyKaira

Posted by admin

Tuner TommyKaira is exhibiting their R35 GT-R at the Tokyo AutoSalon this Friday. After many hours of hard work on the part of TommyKaira staff, visitors will now be able to see the fruits of their labour.

Two kit choices are available, the first being a very comprehensive one while the second just works on the front end. The full kit consists of, among others, a wet carbon front bumper, a front grille cover, lip spoiler, under diffuser, side ducts and side skirts. The rear also features wet carbon in the form of a racing diffuser, a rear wing and rear fender extensions. The AVS Model F15 Platinum black wheels are shod with Pirelli P-Zero 255/40R20 and 285/35R20 front and rear tyres respectively.

Optional dry carbon components can be fitted. These include front fender finishers, ducts and door handle surrounds.

A more minimalistic Front Style Kit is being marketed for customers who prefer not to go over the top. It is made up of wet carbon for the front bumper, grille cover, lip spoiler, under diffusser and side ducts.

Not much info regarding the interior was announced, only that it is completely red and covered mostly in leather.

There are other components that were developed such as a high performance titanium exhaust as well as a brake and suspension kit.

Production Ready Audi R8 based PPI Razor GTR Unveiled

Posted by admin

audi-r8-based-ppi-razor-gtr-2

German tuners PPI Automotive have unveiled their Audi R8-based PPI Razor GTR at Top Marques Monaco 2009. The 580hp car is a follow up to the PPI R8 Razor, shown off at the Essen Motor Show in 2008.

That maximum horsepower comes from the engine at 7400 rpm, while torque maxes out at a level of 600 Nm, from 6200 rpm. Weight of the PPI Razor GTR is 1580 kg, a full 250 kg lighter than the PPI R8, and 40 kg lighter than the Audi R8 V10. These modifications get the car from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 332 km/h. All of these changes came from racing, wind tunnel development, road testing, and track testing. The number one priority was a focus on power-to-weight ratio, without diminishing the car’s performance.

The car features a custom supercharger, which works seamlessly with the stainless steel high performance exhaust and ram-charged air filter system. Everywhere else, the company used carbon fiber to achieve weight reduction, including the new front bumper and diffuser. Bigger air intakes can also be seen at the front, which also cools the brake system thanks to the channeling in the new hood. Custom sideskirts, and rear wing with adjustable flap, adds to the new look.

PPI mounted MAG9 Carbon Fiber aluminum wheels, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires. 19-inchers are used at front, and 20-inchers at back. Within the wheels, you can catch a glimpse of the big orange six-piston brake calipers, which grab the big discs. New coils have also been designed for this car, and PPI even installed a hydraulic lift system. This allows the extremely low-riding car to be raised by 45 mm to clear speed bumps, and maneuver in parking garages.

The quality shines through inside, where PPI trimmed out the car in Onyx Nubuck leather with orange accenting. Carbon fiber is also seen all over the interior parts, even in the lightweight folding sport seats.

Mosler MT900 GTR XX Sales Begin

Posted by admin

mosler-mt900-gtr-xx-sales-begin-9

The 2009 Mosler MT900 GTR XX has finally gone on sale in Europe. The company’s 20th anniversary car passed Euro4 emissions tests, as well as quality checks performed by TUV Rheinland. Once the official word was handed down on both crash testing and electro magnetic compatibility testing, European and UAE sales were approved.

Delivery of the 600hp car to these markets will begin later this year, although by now it is actually the company’s 21st year in operation. In spite of this, they will still keep the “XX” Roman-numeral designation, to mark the 20th anniversary edition. Based on the MT900 GTR, the car should do better than the first version’s 3.1 second 0-100 km/h time and 340 km/h top speed.

Weighing in at 2450 pounds (1111 kg), the car gets its power from a Corvette LS7 engine. When it was announced, the company had said they wanted to reduce the weight further with carbon Recaros, KW suspension, and MOVIT ceramic brakes in addition to the use of composite carbon fiber and Kevlar. In a press release, the company says that the result is a car that “allows the driver to brake deeper, carry higher speeds into and through the corners, and accelerate harder.” Sounds good.

Sounds really good.

In fact, the engineering that went into this street legal road burner allows the car to pull 1.1g, even on street tires. This comes thanks to the double-wishbone suspension, adjustable shocks, and adjustable anti-roll bars.

Mosler president Warren Mosler said, “We are happy to begin delivery of these state-of-the-art supercars to our fans. Total performance has always been of the upmost importance to Mosler Automotive, and the MT900 GTR XX exemplifies our commitment to the fundamentals of performance technology.”

Pricing on the car is listed at €250,000, although it is unclear if that includes taxes. The car may be ordered in Europe and the Emirates through Mosler Deutschland.

Note: U.S. certification is still pending.

LSD Wing Doors for Nissan GT-R

Posted by admin

lsd-wing-doors-for-nissan-gt-r-1

LSD Design released information on their new wing doors for the Nissan GT-R. The creatively named LSD Flügeltürbeschläge, which is not actually a good choice for a “safe word” with your dominatrix, is one more step in the quest by aftermarket parts makers to customize every Nissan GT-R that comes off the line.

We kid, of course. “Flügeltürbeschläge” loosely translates from German as a more multisyllabic way of saying “fitted wing door.” For €1949, you get the accessory with roller guides, to guarantee precision every time the door is opened or closed. The guides are also adjustable, to ensure the best fit possible. Also nice is that the doors can bolt on pretty easily, “without welding and paint work,” according to the design firm.

These wings are much easier to use than they are to pronounce, since the company used the original mounting points that Nissan used. When getting out, simply open the door slightly outward, and let it go up in the air. Closing the doors is done in one fluid motion.

The wings are now commercially available. Sadly, you will probably not be able to score a license plate that says “Flügeltürbeschläge”.

PPI R8 Razor GTR to Make Final Production Debut at Top Marques Show

Posted by admin

4872881

The full-production PPI R8 Razor GTR will make its world debut at the Top Marques Show in Monaco next week. The Razor GTR is not the regular PPI Razor although it is also based on the Audi R8. The car was unveiled at the 2008 Essen Motor Show.

Some of the alterations made on the R8 include the use of carbon fiber, aluminium and titanium in order to reduce weight and improve performance. It has a widebody appearance with aerodynamics that have been wind tunnel tested.

The interior has been completely redesigned. It now features Onyx Nubuck leather highlighted in orange. Carbon fiber is used in the gear lever, the lightweight folding seats, centre console inserts, door trims, door sill protectors, as well as for the driver and radio console surround.

When it was shown at Essen the Razor GTR was powered by a 580hp (427kW) engine with maximum torque of 600Nm that allows for a 0 – 100km/h sprint time of 3.7 seconds. Top speed is 332km/h.

Former racing driver and race commentator Ellen Lohr will drive an example of this limited-production car during the Top Marques show at the Monaco Grand Prix circuit.

Switzer Releases P700 PKG for Nissan GTR

Posted by admin

switzer-nissan-gt-r-with-p700-package_1

Ohio-based tuner Switzer Performance has announced details regarding their new P700 package for the Nissan GT-R. Designed to enhance the car’s already stellar powertrain, the package consists of a series of high-performance bolt-on accessories that give the GT-R plenty of extra power without sacrificing reliability or drivability.

The biggest change comes in the form of the addition of new turbochargers that were specifically designed for the high-performance GT-R. Switzer also added a new “MONSTER” intercooler package as well as a retuned ECU module which allows for extra boost.

Thanks the revised setup, the new P700 performance package produces over 700 horsepower at the crank which translates into an extraordinary 626 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque when used with 93 octane. For comparison, the standard Nissan GT-R comes equipped with a 3.8-liter twin turbo V6 engine which produces 480 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

Pricing for the Switzer P700 package is pretty steep as it retails for 16,650 USD, about the same price someone would expect to pay for a mid-size sedan.

HKS Release Street Legal GT570 Sports Package

Posted by admin

9080905009mini1l2

Following some unsavory reaction to the Nissan GT-R-based HKS GT570 Racing Package as far as the eco brigade goes, the tuning firm has responded by releasing an HKS GT570 Sports Package. The previous package wasn’t too environmentally-friendly as it was not fitted with catalytic converters. This made it illegal in some countries.

HKS went back to the drawing board and now offers a new kit for the GT570. It consists of stainless steel catalyser midpipes, aluminium intercooler piping, an EVC electronic boost controller and Super SQV blow off valves that come with the piping kit.

The turbo has been fitted with upgraded wastegate actuators and Super Fire Racing M45HL spark plugs are added to the engine. Revised power figures are not available but the Racing Package makes a heady 570PS (419kW) and 540 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. The addition of “road legal” equipment shouldn’t make too much of a difference in performance though.

Pricing for the kit is about ¥913,500 (US$9,700) in Japan which is close to ¥315,000 (US$3,300) more than the Racing Package. That’s the HKS price for going clean.

Nissan GT-R by Shadow Sports Design

Posted by admin

shadow-sports-design-nissan-gt-r-r35_4

Shadow Sports Design has given access to details regarding its Nissan GT-R conversion. The car has been given a number of new parts to enhance its performance. A carbon fiber rear spoiler is fitted and elevated to improve downforce. There is a rear air diffuser installed as well for the same purpose.

The 20-inch wheels are made of forged magnesium for both strength and lightness of weight. These were developed in conjunction with Enkei and each of the front wheels saves the car 2.05kg in unsprung weight. They are available in either black or a gunmetal finish. As a way of helping to cool the front brake calipers the front underspoiler has carbon ducts that lead directly to these brakes.

Titanium was the material picked when it came to manufacturing the exhaust pipe mufflers. The Shadow Sports Design GT-R has a pair of racing seats fitted with a harness. No performance figures have been released yet but it’s been said that the carbon-clad official GT-R Spec V is two seconds faster around the Sendai Highland Raceway track in Japan than the standard car.

South Side Performance GT-R Turbo Kit gives 820hp

Posted by admin

gtr820rr-turbo-upgrade-kit

American tuner South Side Performance has created a turbo kit capable of boosting the Nissan GT-R up to 820 horsepower. The upgrade is made to fit on Nissan’s stock parts facilitating quality of installation.

If true, this could bring the 0-60mph time down from 3.2 seconds to somewhere between the Bugatti Veyron and the Hennessey Venom 800TT (2.9 s and 2.4 s).

South Side Performance uses Garrett ball bearing water cooled turbo chargers, an upgraded actuator, high pressure aluminum compressor wheel, and new turbine wheel. The company claims their choice in turbo is because of the large amount of power Garrett turbos produce, even at low RPMs. Thus, these new turbos deliver a healthy amount of additional horsepower from the moment you hit the accelerator, on up to the red line.

Anybody looking to race for pink slips and evade police chases would want to get the South Side Performance GTR820RR Turbo Upgrade Kit. Anybody else might find that kind of power to be unnecessary. When exchanging the GT-R stock turbo, the price of this kit comes to $6,499. Installation takes about a week.
