Hennessey Venom GT Teased Yet Again

Posted by admin

Here is a teaser video with some more images of the upcoming Hennessey Performance Venom GT.

You know an automaker is ambitious when their aim is to make the Bugatti Veyron look slow. Hennessey Performance – going by the very telling initials HP – has equipped the Venom GT with a V8 engine (displacement unspecified) that can be tuned to the customer’s liking, beginning at 725 hp, with 1,000 and 1,200 hp variants rounding out the three options.

The numbers are worthy of being locked in a padded room. The top speed of 440 km/h (272 mph) soundly beats the Veyron’s 408 km/h (254 mph). The 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint takes only 2.4 seconds.

The car is light, coming in at 2400 lbs (1088 kg), which can account for a lot of the performance. But still, to slow the thing down, it needs massive brakes, and is fitted with 14-inch carbon brake rotors (6-piston calipers at the front, 4-piston for the rear wheels).

Price? $600,000 or €438,000 or £398,000. Expensive, yes, but likely one of the best bang-for-your-buck deals around.

The Hennessey Performance Venom GT will debut on March 30th and will be shown to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK in July – as appropriately named a venue as you can imagine.

BMW 5-Series GT by AC Schnitzer Debuts in Geneva

Posted by admin

AC Schnitzer has unveiled their tuning program for the BMW 5-Series GT at the Geneva Motor Show.

In an effort to make the ‘wagden’ (half wagon, half sedan) look more appealing, Schnitzer added front and rear spoilers, a ventilated hood, aggressive side skirts, a redesigned rear fascia, chrome exhaust tips, and new wheels (available in a number of different styles, in sizes ranging from 19- to 22-inches). Inside, the company installed aluminum pedals, velour footmats, and a new cover for the i-Drive controller.

On the performance side, the engine in the 530d has been tuned to produce 286 HP (213 kW / 289 PS) – an increase of 41 HP (31 kW / 42 PS). Schnitzer also added a twin rear silencer and a specially tuned sports suspension.

TechArt GT Street RS Sets New Lap Record at Sachsenring

Posted by admin

When German tuners TechArt modified the Porsche GT2 little did their engineers know that the car would shatter the Sachsenring lap record set last year.  The TechArt GT Street RS slashed over four seconds off the old time, finishing the 3,671 meter circuit in 1:31.94.

The car embarassed the previous record-holding Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, which finished the same lap in 1:36.29.

The test run was recorded by AutoBild, who arranged for a comparison between the TechArt and several other cars.  Amongst the tests was a 0-100 km/h sprint, that the GT Street RS finished in 3.5 seconds.

With 690 horsepower and up to 634 ft-lb of torque, the TechArt GT Street RS shows improvements over the 997 GT2 by 160-hp and nearly 130 ft-lb.

Gemballa Tornado GTS 750 4-Seater Updates – New photos

Posted by admin

gemballa-tornado-gts-750-4-seater (2)

A new set of photos featuring the Gemballa Tornado 750 GTS 4-seater has been released by the manufacturer.  Gemballa engineers have made a few changes to the €400,000 SUV-come-sports car in an effort to keep the vehicle fresh.

At the front, we immediately noticed the new teardrop-shaped CGT headlights being used on the car, similar to those found on the Carrerra GT-based Gemballa Mirage GT.  Slight modifications to the lower half of the front bumper appears to now include fog lights.  In back, a new rear spoiler design includes three sections of lighting, as opposed to just one.  One of the close-ups also shows the center-mounted camera in the grille, possibly part of the SUV’s infotainment and night vision system.

Earlier in the year, we reported that engineers had stripped about 250 kilos (551 lbs) from the vehicle’s weight.  Combined with 750-horsepower turbo V8 engine that produces up to 1,050 Nm, this vehicle hits 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.  A top speed of over 300 km/h (186.4mph) is also possible.

Naturally, this required bigger wheels, brakes, and air intakes, all of which can be found here.  Gemballa uses a 415/380 mm braking system with six-piston calipers in the front, and four-piston calipers at the back.  12×22″ forged GT Sport Wheels are also used on the now 70 mm lower vehicle.  The package is rounded out with sport seats in the front and back, video screens all around, leather, Alcantara, and a set of carbon trim inserts.

Gemballa Mirage GT Gold Edition

Posted by admin

Porsche Carrera Gemballa Mirage GT Gold Edition (3)

Gemballa has unveiled their new Mirage GT Gold Edition.

Based on the Porsche Carrera GT, the Gold Edition follows in the footsteps of Gemballa’s previously revealed Mirage GT, Mirage GT Carbon Edition, and Mirage GT Matt Edition.

As the name suggests, the Gold Edition features various gilded accents on the wheels, mirrors, air intakes, side skirts, and wing. Inside, the theme continues with gold touches on the instrument cluster, center console, door handles, shifter, and steering wheel. In a nod to practicality, Gemballa offers a HLS suspension which raises the car 45mm (1.8″) so the Mirage can tackle speed bumps and parking garages.

Power comes from a massive V10 engine that produces 650 horsepower and 630 Nm of toque. This enables the Gold Edition to run from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 9.7 seconds, and top out at over 335 km/h (208 mph).

Although nothing is official, expect the Gold Edition to cost more than €300,000 ($431,700 USD).

Hamann BMW 5 Series GT Images Released

Posted by admin

Hamann BMW 5 Series GT (1)

Hamann has released these pictures of a tuned BMW 5 Series GT. The GT is another model in the 5 Series range and has been officially shown in details and in pictures. It has seating space for four people inside a wheelbase equivalent in length to the 7 Series. All that is left is for it to come out at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

No further information has been let out by the Hamann troupe so all we have at the moment are these images. The standard GT comes with three engines; a new 3.0-litre single turbo petrol that makes 225kW (306hp) and 400Nm, a 4.4-litre twin turbo petrol with 300kW (408hp) and a 3.0-litre turbo diesel that makes 180kW (245hp) plus 540Nm of torque.

Current Hamann-tuned 5 Series sedans produce up to 20kW (27hp) and 45Nm more. These apply especially to the 550i which still has the old naturally aspirated 4.8-litre V8. It figures then that the Hamann 550i GT will at least go up to 320kW (435hp), but we reckon it’s fair to expect even more.

Look out for a modified front end and rear bumper, signature black wheels, different tailpipes, powerful brakes and a host of branded interior accessories.

MTM announces Birkin Edition performance upgrades for Bentley models

Posted by admin

mtm-announces-birkin-edition-performance-upgrades-for-bentley-1

MTM has provided a Birkin Edition upgrade for the Bentley Continental GT, GTC, GT Speed, GTC Speed, Flying Spur and Supersports. Pretty much the whole range is covered. The components making up the kit consist of a chrome front grille, a stainless steel exhaust system, centre and end muffler with throttle control, a four-pipe rear spoiler and 21-inch alloy rims.

For the GT series the front axle can be lowered by 25mm while the rear axle can come 35mm closer to the ground. It is thanks to the MTM F-Cantronic system that this can be done.

The standard Continental GT has a 412kW (560hp) V12 engine making torque of 650Nm. MTM upped these numbers to 635hp (467kW) and 650hp (478kW). Peak torque went up to 795Nm. The result is that three seconds were shaven off the standard car’s time at the Hockenheim racing circuit while its 0 – 200km/h time of 15.9 seconds was also three seconds quicker. The car achieved 331km/h at the Nardo Oval in Italy.

MTM charges €20,000 for their new kit including VAT and a TÜV certificate. An MTM Individual programme is available for buyers who wish to customise their cars even more.

Porsche Carrera GT Enhanced by Königseder

Posted by admin

porsche-carrera-gt-enhanced-by-konigseder-2

Austrian tuner Königseder has released a new body kit for the discontinued Porsche Carrera GT. The GT was and still is the most powerful Porsche ever built even though production stopped in 2006 after a three-year run.

The Königseder kit features alloy wheels and a deeper exhaust note. A new front end featuring a redesigned front bumper that makes a sharp statement of performance. Chunky side skirts give the car a wider and more aggressive look. The rear end has a new bumper, extra air vents, a larger air diffuser and a large fixed rear wing.

The tuner opted to keep the factory 5.7-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that produces 612bhp (457kW) and 590Nm of torque. Fitted to the standard Carrera GT it helped it go from 0 – 60mph in 3.8 seconds with a top speed rated at 330km/h.
