BMW X6 M by Vorsteiner Preview

Posted by admin

U.S. based tuner Vorsteiner has previewed a brand new aerodynamic kit for the BMW X6 M. The BMW X6 M VRS Aero Package is made from resin pre-impregnated, vacuum-formed carbon fibre which makes it 30% stiffer and stronger than the equivalent wet-lay product.

From the add-on carbon fibre front spoiler, which increases front-end downforce, to the rear end pieces, the kit is well thought out and extensive. The carbon fibre bonnet is 40% lighter than the factory unit and keeps hot air away from the engine. The roof spoiler improves air flow over the top, working with the deck lid rear spoiler which directs air along the rear end. A rear diffuser with big fins rounds things off.

The car rendered here is using branded V-102 brushed aluminium wheels measuring 23-inches with Michelin tyres.

The X6 M VRS Aero Package will be available from this summer.

BMW Alpina B3 S Biturbo Revealed in Geneva with 400 PS

Posted by admin

The BMW specialists at ALPINA have unveiled the new B3 S Biturbo.

Originally launched in Geneva 2007 (as the B3 BiTurbo – notice the missing ‘S’), the B3 S Biturbo features “improved performance and torque with reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.” It was designed to combine “explosive performance with a high level of comfort and everyday usability, addressing the needs of an unusually broad target group of automotive connoisseurs.”

Broad is an understatement – the B3 S Biturbo is available as a Sedan, Coupe, Estate, or Convertible (with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive). Regardless of body style is selected, owners will be rewarded with a powerful 3.0-liter engine that produces 294 kW (400 PS / 395 hp) and 540 Nm (397 lb-ft) of torque. In order to eke out the extra performance, ALPINA engineers optimized the air intake and air filter (in terms of pressure loss), added a new exhaust system (which optimizes back pressure), installed high-strength MAHLE pistons (which allow for a maximum boost of 1.2 bar with a compression ratio of 9.4:1), and put in a high-performance cooling system.

Thanks to the engine modifications, the B3 S Biturbo can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 4.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 300km/h (186mph). In terms of efficiency, the car can achieve up to 9.7 l/100km (29.1 mpg imp) while emitting 224-225 g/km of CO2 in the combined EU test cycle.

As always, ALPINA added some modest styling tweaks to separate the B3 S Biturbo from the standard BMW 3-Series.  Highlights include 19-inch light-alloy wheels, a new rear valance (on the Coupe and Convertible), a front-lip spoiler, a leather sports steering wheel, and a unique ALPINA instrument cluster.

G-Power Typhoon Black Pearl based on BMW X5 (E70) with 625hp

Posted by admin

G-Power has unveiled the limited edition Typhoon Black Pearl.

Based on the previously seen X5 Typhoon, the Black Pearl features a monotone black paint job and an aggressive body kit with revised fascias, a new hood (with improved ventilation), and wider fender flares. Other styling tweaks for the BMW X5 include a rear diffuser, a roof-mounted spoiler, aerodynamic side skirts, and 23-inch Silverstone aluminum wheels wrapped in high performance Michelin tires.

Under the hood, G-Power outfitted the 4.8-liter V8 engine with a SK III RS supercharger, a carbon fiber air intake, a large-volume aluminum charge air cooling system, a SpeedFlow high-performance exhaust system (with racing headers, racing catalysts and racing end mufflers), forged MAHLE pistons, new fuel injectors (with a larger fuel mass capacity), and revised engine electronics.

Thanks to these modifications, the engine produces 625 hp (460 kW) and 700 Nm of torque. This enables the Black Pearl to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 16 seconds, and top out at more than 300 km/h (186 mph).

2011 BMW 5-Series by TopCar, Cardi and Lumma Design Previewed

Posted by admin

2011-bmw-5-series-by-topcar-cardi-and-lumma-design (2)

Two Russian tuning firms and a German company have teamed up to offer a new kit for the 2011 BMW 5-Series F10.  TopCar and Cardi, from Russia, and Lumma Design have joined forces to create an aggressive styling package which will likely boost performance.

Judging by the included renderings, the car will maintain a bulging nose, with new carbon fiber front lip installed underneath.  The new bumper features five sections of air inlets, with honeycomb grille, and what looks like integrated LED lighting.

Bulging wheel wells lead to aggressive side sills.  The carved line leading from the front bumper to the sills is a particularly nice touch.  In back, a carbon fiber spoiler is added on top of the trunk, and a smoother bumper will also be included.  A carbon fiber rear diffuser, quad-tailpipes, and triple-spoke wheels rounds out the package.

The bodywork was created by TopCar and Cardi.  Lumma Design is keeping their cards hidden when it comes to the engine tuning kit they are developing for the package.  Full details should be released when their car is presented in April 2010.

BMW 335i Cabriolet with 362hp by ATT Autotechnik

Posted by admin

BMW 335i Cabriolet with 362hp by ATT Autotechnik (3)

ATT Autotechnik believe the current BMW 3 Series Convertible is the best ever. The tuner therefore embarked on a mission to make it even better. Starting with a stock 3.0-litre twin turbo 335i Convertible power was increased from the standard 225kW (306hp) and 400Nm of torque to 254kW (345hp) and 481Nm in power level I. This is achieved through an additional controller.

Power level II also makes use of a stainless steel sport exhaust system to deliver 266kW (362hp) and 536Nm, 14kW (19hp) more than the previous-generation M3 E46.

Wheels fitted are ATT TEC LeMans 20″ measuring 8,5×20″ and 10×20″ front and rear while tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport 2 size 245/30 ZR20 and 285/25 ZR20 respectively.

Accessories included are M3 louvers, mounting accessories and LED indicators. The interior can also be customised to suit individual tastes.

LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System

Posted by admin

LUMMA CLS 730 RS Released with G-POWER 730hp Bi-Supercharger System (1)

A German tuning/design company has just released a new performance tuning package for the BMW M5 E60.  Winterlingen-based Lumma Design has been working with the engineers at G-Power on an upgrade kit to the M-badged version of the 5-series.

The result is a car that uses all 730 horsepower of a bi-compressor V10 to reach a maximum speed of over 367 km/h (228 mph).  The 700 Nm of torque helps the car go 0-100 km/h time in 4.2 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in just ten seconds.  300 km/h is achieved in 29.5 seconds.

The companies claim this is the “most powerful engine” ever seen on a “road-legal BMW.”  It is certainly a huge development over Lumma’s CLR 500 RS released in 2007.  That car saw a “paltry” 560 horsepower.

Certainly, these figures require non-stock brakes.  Lumma Design’s own six-piston front, four-piston rear caliper brakes are used along with drilled 405mm discs.  Ultralight, three-piece forged 10×21 and 12Jx21 wheels at the nose and tail look great on the 45mm lowered car.

The design package includes carbon fiber boot and bonnet, and the material is also used for the door handles, entrance sills, fenders, and mirror caps.  Designers also replaced the exhaust system.  Inside, carbon fiber, leather, and suede is used gratuitously.  Hopefully, the color scheme chosen inside is customizable, as something more subtle than the contrasting red, white, dark grey would probably feel more appropriate.

Prior-Design BMW M6 Wide-Body Styling Kit

Posted by admin

Prior-Design BMW M6 Wide-Body

Prior Design presents a new wide body styling kit for the BMW M6. The finished car kit is called the PD550 and features some revisions for the V10-powered M6. The tuner did not mess with the front end too much, preferring to keep it as close to the familiar simple and elegant look as possible.

The aerodynamic kit includes revised front wings, new side skirts and new rear fender flares. A hand-made PD silencer accompanies four stainless steel pipes said to please the ear even from miles away. The body was widened by some 80mm to improve handling and offer sportier dynamics. If this is too much Prior Design has a second complete but non-wide kit called the PD450.

A choice of two wheel/ tyre combinations are possible; FA 9.0 J x 20 / RA 10.5 J x 20 with 255/35 ZR 20 / 285/30 ZR 20 tyres or FA 9.0 J x 21 / RA 10.5 J x 21 with 255/30 ZR 21 / 295/25 ZR 21. The suspension can be lowered by up to 30mm up front and 25mm at the rear which gives the PD550 a real squatting position.
