VATH Rocket Compressor based on Mercedes SLK 55 AMG Makes 565 PS

Posted by admin

The VÄTH V58 is no ordinary sports car. It is based on the Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG but with pockets more punch. Besides the engine, which we will talk about shortly, VÄTH also added its breakneck styling and aerodynamic package for visual delight.

The kit includes black carbon fibre front lips and a rear diffuser with large fins. A quartet of 19-inch wheels wearing 235/35 tyres at the front and 275/30 types at the rear can be ordered in silver, black or a different colour. A six-piston brake system with 378-millimeter brake disks is installed up front.

Power comes from the 5.5-litre V8 upgraded to a 5.8-litre displacement and strapped with a compressor. It takes maximum thrust from the factory 265 kW (355 bhp / 360 PS) and 510Nm up to a huge 416 kW (557 bhp / 565 PS) and 770Nm (568 lb-ft) of torque. The 0 – 100km/h sprint was not quoted but a top speed of 310km/h (193 mph) is envisaged.

Other technical upgrades include a performance chassis, an optional differential lock, high-grade steel catalysts, sports pistons, polished cylinder heads, a sports air filter, a long-stroke crankshaft and exhaust manifolds.

The interior package lists things like a sports steering wheel with leather, carbon or fine wood trimming, depending on the customer’s tastes.

VÄTH is charging €30,785 (US$42,037) for the engine upgrade alone. The other components can be ordered separately at various prices.

AK-Car Design Envisions SLS AMG

Posted by admin

When former Lorinser tuner Adolf Koch hit retirement age, he knew he still desired to be creative.  That’s why at 65-years-old, and after 47 years with Lorinser, he chose to form his own company.

His newest design is a proposal for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.  As seen in these renderings, the package begins at the front with a new grille with black honeycomb elements.  This is also reflected nicely in the new bumper at the air inlets.  The suggested new sidesills look nicer than stock, and flow better with the look up front.

The new rear bumper incorporates quad tailpies instead of dual pipes, and replaces the rear diffuser.  About the only thing not likable on the car are the wheels.

AK-Car Design offers an entire kit for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and a few parts for several Audi models.  Koch’s firm has also developed renderings for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and SL-Class.

We expect to see more work from Koch in the near future as well as a Geneva debut for the SLS.

Brabus GL 63 Biturbo Pumps Out 650hp

Posted by admin

German tuners Brabus released their version of the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class last month at the Dubai Motor Show.  The Brabus GL 63 Biturbo has been fitted with the Mercedes eight cylinder engine from the ML 63 AMG, tuned to deliver 650 horsepower and up to 850 Nm of torque.

If that number sounds familiar for Brabus, it is because the company used the same engine and tuning package on their ML 63 Biturbo.  That SUV debuted in Geneva a year ago with a top speed of 310 km/h (192.6 mph).

The GL 63 is a bit slower, with a top speed of 300 km/h (186.4 mph), and a 0-100 km/h sprint of 4.7 seconds.  The engine is mated to a modified version of the Speedshift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive.  It includes a customized, and more responsive twin turbo system, large water-to-air intercooler, with other upgrades to the intake and exhaust, brakes, suspension, and tires.  The vehicle now rides on forged 23-inch wheels.  21- and 22-inch wheels are also offered.

Brabus is also making the SUV available with a Widestar package, including 3-centimeter wide fender flares, rocker panels,  a new front apron, and larger air inlets.  LED daytime running lights, underfloor lighting, and four extra headlamps have also been installed.  Roof spoiler, rear apron, and rear diffuser have all been installed, as well as a quad-pipe exhaust.

Interior upgrades include Mastik leather, Alcantara, and a choice of wood or carbon-fiber trim.  A full pallette of color options is offered for each.  LCD screens are integrated into the seats for the rear passengers, who have access to a DVD player.

The Brabus GL 63 Biturbo is now available for order, starting at €368,000.

VÄTH Shows Mercedes E-Class E63 AMG Tuning Program

Posted by admin

VÄTH Automobiltechnik has unveiled their new tuning program for the Mercedes E 63 AMG.

Dubbed the VÄTH V63RS, the car features a sinister exterior with a starless grille (€797), a boot spoiler (€333), a carbon fiber diffuser (€1,773), and a carbon fiber front lip spoiler (€1,416). Other styling tweaks include a suspension lowering module, which reduces the ride height by 30 mm, (€821) and 20-inch forged three-piece alloy wheels wrapped in high performance rubber (€8,211).

Inside, the V63RS has carbon trim (€2,737) and velour floor mats with an embroidered VÄTH logo (€226).

Under the hood, VÄTH enlarged the cylinder head channels, installed new engine management software, and added new pistons, valves, sport cam shafts, a larger intake, and bigger exhaust valves (all for a whopping €19,635). Thanks to these modifications, the engine produces 605 hp and 690 Nm of torque (an increase of 87 hp and 60 Nm of torque). This allows the V63RS to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, before topping out at 340 km/h (211 mph). When it’s time to stop, massive 390mm brake discs (with 8 pistons fixed calipers up front) bring you to a halt (€5,355).

A.R.T. G Streetline Wide-Body based on Mercedes G55K AMG

Posted by admin

art-g-streetline-wide-body-based-on-mercedes-g55k-amg (5)

The Mercedes-Benz G55K AMG-based A.R.T. G Streetline broke cover at the Dubai Motor Show. It follows on the tracks of the A.R.T. AS55K YAAS EDITION, a one-off created for the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi.

Modifications were deep and extensive, covering pretty much every sphere of the vehicle. The exterior features a wide body kit with a new front bumper, new bonnet, a double beam xenon headlight set with LED daytime running lights and indicators, a running board with LED lights, fender extensions, rear LED lights and a roof spoiler, also with LEDs.

A.R.T. fitted a special chassis for the SUV which goes with its 22-inch light alloy wheels and 305/35R22 Pirelli Scorpio Assimetrico tyres.

The engine and performance has been boosted by the AS55K performance kit which includes Vmax removal, a large charge-air cooler, a six-pipe stainless steel exhaust system with two metal sports catalytic converters and a flow-efficient exhaust manifold.

From these and more upgrades the engine now flicks out about 442kW (601hp) and close to 800Nm. Top speed is rated at 260km/h (162mph).

The Bordeaux red nappa leather interior also has a leather/ wood multifunction sports steering wheel, six black velour carpets and electrically-adjustable individual seats with a heat and ventilation function.

VÄTH Performance CL: Mercedes CL 65 AMG with 745hp & 1150 Nm

Posted by admin

vth-performance-cl-mercedes-cl-65-amg-with-745hp--1150 (2)

German Mercedes-Benz tuners Väth have released new details about their version of the CL 65 AMG.  Now with a massive 745-horsepower and up-to 1,150 Nm of torque the car claims a 0-100km/h time of nearly four seconds.

For €36,890, the company offers an engine tuning package with reprogrammed computer, “inlet optimization with an air collector,” and an advanced cooling system.  New exhaust and “boosting” system are also included.  After the package is installed the car’s top speed hits 340 km/h (211 mph).

Adding the 20-inch alloys with Vredestein high-performance winter tires runs another €7,378, while six-piston caliper brakes with 405 mm disks adds a much higher pricetag.  The calipers, disks, and steel-flex tubes with racing fluid go for €8,082.  Lowering the vehicle 40 mm costs another €1,952.

What makes the car look great is the carbon front lip and rear fins.  The fins replace the diffusor, with the trunk and roof spoilers sitting above.  Total cost for the exterior mods: €3,188.

Although the Väth CL 65 AMG looks great, and has impressive performance creds, we’re not sure that there is enough value to justify a €57,490 cost.

VÄTH Giant with 585hp – Based on Mercedes ML 63 AMG

Posted by admin

Mercedes ML 63 AMG VaTH Giant with 585hp (5)

The ML 63 AMG by VÄTH Automobiltechnik is certainly one of the most powerful SUVs ever to be put on the road – with the VÄTH 6.3 liter engine doling out 585 hp and 690 Nm of torque.

But how does VÄTH dare to label this AMG engine its own? Well, the German tuner has substituted its own specially forged pistons, enlarged the counter-sunk channels on the cylinder heads, and added its own large intake and exhaust valves, sports camshaft and valve springs. After all that, the ECU tuning they do seems the least of it.

Performance figures on the VÄTH ML 63 AMG come to 4.5 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint and a top speed of 300 km/h.

Total cost for the engine tuning, including installation, comes to 19,635 euros.

Also included in the tuning kit are 22-inch, 3-spoke light alloy wheels with Dunlop performance tires. A set of those will set you back 8,568 euros.

A 4,641 euro VÄTH high-performance braking system can also be had, as well as an adjustable sport suspension with lowering up to 40 mm for 1,952 euros.

Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG Wide Body by Expression Motorsport

Posted by admin

Expression Motorsport Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG Wide Body (4)

Belgian tuners Expression Motorsport has released a set of photos and details featuring their latest project, the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG Wide Body.  The company’s in-house aerokit is meant to “differentiate this ML from those of a more traditional variety.”

And that it does.  A new front fascia swaps the bulky-looking standard bumper with a three-section unit that incorporates LED daytime runners, and what appears to be small, halogen fog lights.  They also installed a front spoiler, and designed a more aggressive look for the hood.  New, bulging wheel-wells fit bigger 22-inch wheels.  A new rear bumper combines F1 lighting, and a lightweight rear diffuser.

Each unit from the Belgian company comes with the AMG 6.3-liter (6208cc) V8 engine that generates 510 horsepower.  Pricing for the vehicle was not yet listed on the company’s website.

Mercedes C63 AMG by Edo Competition

Posted by admin

Edo Competition Mercedes C63 AMG (12)

Appearing in these pages is Edo Competion’s take on the much-respected Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Edo chose not to modify the exterior too much, preferring to stick its guns into the firepower department instead. Therefore only the wheels are changed into black 19-inch lightweight alloys with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup high-performance tyres that measure 235/35 19 at the front and 265/30 19 at the rear. The interior can however be upgraded to the customer’s wishes by inserting such items as special leather upholstery and other unique trims.

Where much of the work was done is under the bonnet. The tuner made some ECU upgrades by recalibrating the unit. Other mods include a new high-performance exhaust system, exhaust headers, high-flow catalytic converters and new air filters. The 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V8 is kept in the same shape and size as it was out the AMG factory.

Since then power has been boosted from the standard 336kW (457hp) and 600Nm up to a more Edo Competition-acceptable 408kW (555hp) and 680Nm of torque. As a consequence the 0 – 100km/h dash time goes down to 4.3 seconds and the top speed is ungoverned to 320km/h.
