9ff Speed9 Based on Porsche 997 Turbo Revealed

9ff Speed9 Based on Porsche 997 Turbo Revealed (15)

German tuner 9ff is set to present their second independent complete vehicle at the Essen Motor Show next weekend. Based on the potent 997 Turbo, the 9ff Speed9 pays homage to the Porsche 356/ 1500S Speedster of 1955 and features a number of modifications that give it more power and handling prowess.

9ff is a bit shy with the details, but for the body the windshield has been shortened and the rear hump that houses the folding roof has been replaced with a flat hard cover for that speedster “level vehicle silhouette” look.

The bi turbo engine pushes out 478kW (650hp) and 890Nm at 2,850rpm. Engineers used a sports air filter, upgraded the ECU, installed a 9ff sports exhaust system including a new sports catalytic converter to achieve these results. It is driven by a Tiptronic gearbox with integrated paddles.

Improved handling will come from adjustable stabilisers on the front and rear axles, double springs and four aluminium spring plates. To stop it dead on its tracks is a 9ff brake system consisting of 380mm “compound” brake discs, 6-piston calipers and 9ff brake pads.

The aerodynamic package includes a front apron, side skirts and a rear apron. The interior boasts an alcantara dashboard, special 9ff Speed9 sports seats and a sports steering wheel. Most of the other bits and pieces can be customised to the buyer’s wishes.

Hopefully 9ff will also release performance figures when unveiling the car.

Abt Golf VI GTD Tuning Program Announced

Posted by admin

Abt Golf VI GTD Tuning (6)

ABT Sportsline has released details of its new Golf GTD. The car is based on the new Golf TDI with a 103kW (140hp) 2.0 TDI engine, but the more powerful factory GTD makes 125kW (170hp). ABT engineers have improved both power and torque to give it 140kW (190hp) and maximum torque of 390Nm. Zero to 100km/h is reached in 7.1 seconds and top speed is 230km/h. Driving the front wheels is a 7-speed DSG transmission. Fuel consumption figures were not provided but ABT says its car remains fuel efficient with low C02 emissions.

Exterior modifications include a new front grille, front skirt, side skirts, a rear skirt, a rear wing and a four-pipe rear muffler. The wheels and tyres can be selected in either 18-inch or 19-inch sizes. The suspension can be lowered by 30mm for improved handling and performance. It does not do the overall looks any harm either.

Because of these enhancements ABT – the biggest tuner of Volkswagen/ Audi vehicles – changed the GTD abbreviation to stand for “Gewinner Tanken Diesel” or “Winners tank diesel” instead of the official Gran Touring Diesel.

VÄTH Giant with 585hp – Based on Mercedes ML 63 AMG

Posted by admin

Mercedes ML 63 AMG VaTH Giant with 585hp (5)

The ML 63 AMG by VÄTH Automobiltechnik is certainly one of the most powerful SUVs ever to be put on the road – with the VÄTH 6.3 liter engine doling out 585 hp and 690 Nm of torque.

But how does VÄTH dare to label this AMG engine its own? Well, the German tuner has substituted its own specially forged pistons, enlarged the counter-sunk channels on the cylinder heads, and added its own large intake and exhaust valves, sports camshaft and valve springs. After all that, the ECU tuning they do seems the least of it.

Performance figures on the VÄTH ML 63 AMG come to 4.5 seconds for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint and a top speed of 300 km/h.

Total cost for the engine tuning, including installation, comes to 19,635 euros.

Also included in the tuning kit are 22-inch, 3-spoke light alloy wheels with Dunlop performance tires. A set of those will set you back 8,568 euros.

A 4,641 euro VÄTH high-performance braking system can also be had, as well as an adjustable sport suspension with lowering up to 40 mm for 1,952 euros.

Heico Sportiv Tunes Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe Facelift

Posted by admin

Heico Sportiv Tunes Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe Facelift (2)

HEICO SPORTIV has a new tuning package for the facelift Volvo C30 1.6D DRIVe. The tuner believes a strong base is already in place from the stock car which has eco-friendly technologies like stop/start with a brake-energy recovery system and a fuel consumption of 3.9 litres per 100km.

“This is our basic starting point for proving that ecologically friendly action and the pleasure of driving don’t need to be mutually exclusive,” said HEICO SPORTIV general manager Holger Hedtke. “In doing so, aerodynamically optimised components such as the radiator grille or under-floor intentionally remain untouched.”

Power and torque increase from 80kW (109 bhp) and 240Nm to 92kW (125 bhp) and 280Nm respectively. The 0 – 100km/h sprint time is quoted as 9.2 seconds. HEICO SPORTIV says theirs is 2.1 seconds quicker than the factory car. It also has a 200km/h top speed.

The car’s exterior features a HEICO SPORTIV front spoiler, sport rims in 18 and 19-inch size in three colours, and a stainless steel double and quad pipe exhaust system. Other performance enhancers include a differential lock and a sports suspension lowered by 30mm.

Interior accessories include aluminium or leather-covered handbrake, door pin set and gear lever grip.

MTM Boost Audi TT-RS to 424bhp

Posted by admin

MTM Boost Audi TT-RS (7)

German tuner MTM has launched a performance package for the new Audi TT RS. Under normal circumstances the car produces 340hp (250kW) of power and peak torque of 450Nm (332 lb ft) between 1,600rpm and 5,300rpm. The factory claims a 0 – 100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds.

MTM used the stock 2.5-litre 5-cylinder turbo as a basis. The engine control unit was adjusted and a new exhaust system with new middle- and end- pipes with throttle valves fitted. Not only does it apparently sound great, but it also revs higher and accesses its torque across a wide range of revolutions.

As a result, three stages of power can be ordered. Stage 1 offers 301kW (404bhp) and 550Nm while stage 2 gives out 304 (408bhp) and the same amount of torque. The highest stage offers maximum power of 316kW (424bhp) and 560Nm, does 0 – 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds and achieves a top end of 297 km/h. The car runs on MTM sport wheels with the original BIMOTO design measuring 19-inch or 20-inch.
